The Boogie Helix Preset
Recently I realized how much I missed my 20 units rig with the Mesa Boogie Triaxis, my stereo 2:90 poweramp and big roadready Boogie cabinets with 12″ speakers. I’ve used that set-up on tons of TV-shows and numerous recordings. I had that setup for almost two decades. This preset is my take on reproducing some of that energy and power that rig supplied. In short: The Boogie Helix Preset gives you up in your face clean tone, transparent crunchy flavors and intense lead tones.
The 8 Snapshots give me easy acces to a clean dry, a clean more ambient snap, 2 different crunchy snaps for rhythm playing and the 4 different snaps for soloing – from a rather clean transparent lead tone, with just a little saturation – a distinct attack and you can hear the string clearly to amore overdriven tone, and that nice full leadtone, with tons of sustain
In short: The Session Start Helix Preset preset covers
- Up in your face clean tones. With options for adding You’ll find different add-ons from the effects (Chorus, Phaser, Harmonic Tremolo, AutoDubling, and 2 different types of Delay and a Reverb). One snap is “dry” and one more “wet” for ambient, spacious flavors. Entering stompmode and you can add the stompboxes mention above.
- Crunchy patches, again both “dry” and more “wet” is available with different type of modulations as add-ons, in stomp mode.
- Solo sounds, with different type of overdrives and delays for solo patches – from very light saturated lead flavor to really intense overdrives with lots of overtones and sustain.

A little deeper into my intentions with this preset
I guess you want other nuances, than just my 8 Snapshots, no problem. Just like in any other of my presets I’ve prepared for that in each Snapshot, when you enter stomp mode.
I’ll use this workflow all the time when I’m working in the studio to find the right combination of effects for the track.
When I’m working in the studio, normally I will have a sound in mind for a certain part, before I press record. But when I start to record, maybe I realize that it could be optimized/adjusted soundwise to fit the track even more. For bigger difference I might swap to another of my presets, else I will enter Stomp mode to add or remove specific effects, it’s all prepared and ready to use. I’ve prepared for this in every specific Snapshot according to the “main use” I had in mind when I made this preset. After engaging what I’ve prepared I normally don’t have to do much if anything at all, apart from tapping the tempo, and make sure it’s set to match the tempo of the song.
The preset is for your personal use, and not allowed to be shared or sold to other users.
